The dream started many moons ago when I purchased a stock, but not complete, 1928 Ford model A roadster pickup from my friend, Ron in Walnut Creek. He had recently purchased it, along with another model A roadster, from someplace up in Washington state from a guy who knew this guy who once owned the dog of another guy ... whatever ... you get the picture. Anyway, there it was, barn-fresh, sitting in the back of Ron's garage ... waiting!
Since I was a boy, building models and enjoying cars my brother and I both built, I have always liked the roadster pickup. Beyond that, my favorite model was the Black Widow by Monogram (circa 1960). So, here was a 1928 Ford roadster pick up 1:1 that I could have ... and I had to have it. The price was right from my friend, so I became the new owner. I was so darn excited that the truck sat for years in my little shop ... waiting!
Then one day back in 2002, needing to make room in the tiny shop on the side of my home in Pleasant Hill, CA, I decided to remove the body and sell the rolling/running chassis. But try as I might, no one wanted the old model A, until one day while up at Sacramento Vintage Ford, I just happened to stick a forsale note on a little scrap of paper to their old cork board, and two weeks later the chassis was sold. So now, the body parts, all neatly stashed away, were ... waiting!
