The flyer reads: "Day two is loaded with some of the Bay Area’s coolest hot rod stops & shops! We’ll visit the private auto and automobilia collections of hot rod high jinx master Dennis Varni and sports car collector extraordinaire and multi-time pebble beach concourse winner John Mozart. From there we’ll blast up the Peninsula to Roy Brizio Street Rods and his next door neighbor Sanderson Headers! You won’t believe how cool these hot rod factories are!"
Once again we gathered at the Pleasanton Hilton, received our route instructions and headed out. This time we went South to Dennis Varni's place, and like yesterday, we went ooo and wow, then onto the first Mozart stop to see some old cars--his holding tank--and then onto the second Mozart stop for the finished cars and a boat load of really cool stuff. However, two cars didn't make it so easily. A big old pavment miss match on 101 coming North ate the cars. One broke their front suspension and the other broke their oil pan. Ouch! You know, California used to have nice roads.
From Mozart's second stop we headed to Roy Brizio's Street Rods and that was cool! Roy packed us in and made us lunch. And he was right in there, mixing stuff and serving. Wow, what a guy. Varni didn't do that. Mozart didn't do that. Roy Brizio rules ... that's the word on the street.
I was tired and didn't walk over to Sanderson Headers. Sorry. No photos. As others left, I left ... unpacking the street rod sardine can (see photos). I drove North to San Francisco to cross over using the good ol Bay Bridge. What a f__king traffic jam! And crazy drivers on cell phones, weaving in and out and more bad roads. They were so bad that my passenger door kept coming open from the harmonic bouncing of bad roads. Anwser me this: Where did all the money go that we paid in taxes to maintain our roads?
