Now this is more like it. Yep ... it's a rat rod show! It's the Poor Boys 3rd Annual Midnight Mass, held annually in the parking lot at the Marriott in Ranchy Crud-va, CA ... east of Sac-a-tomato (www.theoriginalpoorboys.com). The show started at 5pm Saturday and partied until 2am Sunday. Good cars, plenty of cute tatooed girls, and rock'n bands. The young people's choice of beverage was Jack with beer backs ... "with a 5th in my hand I'm gon'na take you to the promise land as the words to a rock-a-billy song goes.
I don't drink, but I used to. I remember when it was good but that went away over the years. Now, just give me ice tea, or better yet, hot Earl Gray. I actually get abuzz from that stuff ... hey, don't knock it if you haven't tried it.
I left my pleasant hill on Saturday at noon, to once again, meet up with Cliff, at his place on Jacktone Road in Lodi. His '28 phone booth truck was ready when I got there, so with a bye bye to Vicki, Cliff's wife, we headed North on the back roads to Rancho Cordova. The trip took us through miles of farm land, mainly grapes. The scene took me back to a time when our '28 trucks were work horses on dirt roads and farms, helping their owners make a living. Now these same trucks ride the high road on radial tires yet in their hearts beat the macho reminders of their original purpose. So take that, you f__king Lexis sucker!
