Hi Angie. The story of Black Widow 2 is told here at the www.black-widow-2.com site. The opening screen is the STORY INTRO to the story. The story unfolds via the links on the left hand column of your screen. It starts with "Waiting" ... the first of the links under the heading BUILDING BW2. Each link tells more and more of the story of the build. The COMPETITION heading continues the story as Black Widow 2 steps into the public eye. The ADVENTURES follows the adventures of Black Widow 2 as he heads out on the road in search of friends and fun. And please enjoy the full-text reprints of all the press coverage and wonderful awards (see AWARDS & PRESS details). I hope this answers your question. -Rick-

Rick, you did a great job at bringing this truck to life. Even thought it's a frew years newer than the actual model kit it was designed after, it is still cool to see that you took the time and effort to build such a cool truck. I love it!

Hi Rick! Saw you and the Black Widow last night on Car Crazy. Great job on the Black Widow. I have always like 1928-1930's era softtop pickups and yours is ideal. Nothing short of superb. I heard what you said about the metal craftsman ... what talent and ahrd to find with that kind of talent. Again enjoyed the interview with Barry and the car! www.corvettesofclarksville.com Clarksville, TN

Hi Rick,It was great to get your newsletter. Congratulations on completing the Black Widow 2. She's beautiful. She definitely deserves the first place ribbons.

Rich just read some more of the history of Black Widow 2. It is refreshing in this day and age of automated, replace everything with off the shelf parts to hear your finding a real true metal working craftman. I have pasted your info of Black Widow to a few of my model and 1:1 car buddies and they all like your cocept of Model first, 1:1 vehical from a model second. Keep in touch. Did you get a chance to view our Blue Mountain Gang Gazzette we e mailed you earlier this month. Would like to here your comments, Peter Sargent (I'm Canadian EH)

Yes! Way to go! I was so happy to see the 1st place for Sacramento and Portland. And now you have 1st at Seattle! That is fabulous, you must be ecstatic! It has been so enjoyable to follow the entire story and now the outcome.

Hello Rick:Like Toon-T, the Black Widow 2 reflects your true passion. I viewed nearly every one of the photos showing the progressive building of Black Widow 2; the magic performed by Kiril Popov clearly is borne of passion as well.-= Ron =-

Met you at the GNRS (my son was the one who found the smelly things on your display hain) anyway, I'm building a Roadster Pickup a little more traditional but definately a rod..can you tell me a bit about the suspension , rear axle steering box , column etc ? Do you have adetailed "what's in it " ..I love the car and your site ..I'd suggest if you could put your photos in a "Slide Show " format it would make looking at them a lot easier..I got a kick out of your show photos as they are almost identical to the ones my son and I took...hey does Monogram plan a rerelease of this car? if not they should..Thanks for great display...harry

Rick, I have gotten to see most of the progress ofthe building of the Black Widow, and the Hot Rod before it. You are a "stick to it man" and once you start a project you really follow through on it. I have just a minor understanding of how much time and effort you put into making this dream of yours come true, and it is awsome. I am looking forward to a ride this summer. The beers (O'Doul's for you Corona for me) are on me.Gary E. Howard

The car looks great. How many tubes of Testor's glue did it take to assemble it? And where can you find a big enough x-acto knife & fret saw to do the chopping? Herb's pinstripin' and Armand's sewin' could be better. T'was a pleasure to make your windshield look special with the sand etched spider and webs. Glad it made it to GNRS on time.Gotta keep the REAL rods happening!

I saw your car at the GNRS but didn't realize it was yours. Congradulations! I don't know you but remember visiting your site a few times many years ago. I was surfing for 2006 GNRS pics and found you again.I had a "Cinderella" experiance that weekend too. I've been building my highschool dream car for 7 years. Just finished it in time for the show and was blown away on Thursday when I arrived and they told me to go to building 4. Wow! I know there were nearly 400 cars there and it's hard to remeber, but maybe you saw a green metalflake 34 thak looks like it was sketched on the inside cover of your freshman history book.

I enjoyed getting up close to the real rod at the Grand National Show. As you know I plan to dedicate a Sketch Pad article on it. This truck needs to be made in scale so more people can enjoy it!

Mike Gillett uncle_terry8851@hotmail.com
WOW just looked at the final details pictures. Looks amazing. Can't wait to see more, big pictures of the whole car. When are we gonna have some more show pics as well?

This is truly inspiring! Rock on Rick ;)

Zoomie, Very interesting to read about your project. I am also a hot rodder and am looking forward to retirement from teaching soon so I can spend all of my time playing with old cars and hot rods. I have 3 32 Fords but like old trucks best.

David Emerson david.emerson@mcchord.af.mil
Zoomie, I build and modify 1/18th scale die cast models. I have also built real hot rods and a Chopper which is my current summer ride.I really like the look of your Roadster P/U just the way it sits with out paint. I am a big fan of primer on Hot Rods. Most of the die casts I've built are of cars I've seen or that I've owned. If you are interested taking a look at my modified die casts you can see them A webshots and search braindonor. the cars I do are Rods like yours...cars with souls and a heartbeat. I would like to build a model of your roadster P/U. Let me know what you think.Regards David E.

All of us at Revell-Monogram think this is great. Please send us pictures when you are finished, we would like to feature it on our website.

Sounds great!........Didn't know you had a heart attack. I am a little ahead of you. I had 2 in March, had a 100% blockage, got a stint also, and suffered no damage (Kaiser also). Take lots of pills. Suggest you and your wife take the class at Kaiser Martinez (lifestyle). Great class!

Hello Zoomie. I checked out your site and although this project is in the initial stages of construction, your talent and passion shows.

Sonny Hanson sonnyhanson@comcast.net
Looks COOOOL

Bill Leinart, Jr. scoobromofo@yahoo.com
Thanks for the inspiration and motivation. Good luck and keep the site updated.

Rick, this is quite a beautiful project. And, of course, in black. All really cool cars are in black; just as Harleys look best in black. My old '64 Catalina is black with red interior, the great old Hot Rod colors. Enjoyed your photos. Ward

Mike Gillett uncle_terry8851@hotmail.com
Good luck, looks like it will be awesome when finished, ive been looking here for a long time waiting for updates. Great site, still the best for hot rod picture resources. Keep it up. Cheers!
